How to Write a 16-bar Verse

A while back I wrote an article titled “How to write a 16-bar verse” for TheStateofHipHop.com.  It was one of the more popular articles in the past few months and I wanted to share it here with everyone.

The article starts off by explaining what bars are in the music sense.  It also talks about the origins of “16-bars” and why it has become the most popular length of verses (especially in rap music).

I recommend you play the video in full screen mode.

Who Am I?

Hey there, Carlos Bonett here. I'm an avid fan of good music and helping others find their inner artist. I'm not exactly on the Billboard charts, but I have recorded songs that I'm proud of. Personally, that was my only true musical goal...and believe me it's a great feeling having achieved it!
